North American Tang Shou Tao Association

Blue Heron Healing Arts is a member of the North American Tang Shou Tao Association. All teachers and students of Xingyiquan and Baguazhang are required to retain an active membership.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the North American Tang Shou Tao Association (NATSTA) is the preservation, research, and dissemination of the traditional Chinese martial and medical arts. The traditional Chinese internal martial arts that NATSTA focuses on include xingyiquan, baguazhang, taijiquan, and liuhebafa (water boxing). Traditional Chinese Medicine practiced and researched by NATSTA includes all aspects of tuina, acupuncture, herbal medicine, qigong, and dietary medicine. NATSTA’s focus on research, preservation, and dissemination of these arts ensures their viability for future generations.

Vincent Black

(1949-2019)

NATSTA was founded in 1990 by Vincent Black and served as its president until 2000. He studied xingyiquan and Chinese medical theory with Master Xǔ Hóngjī . Vincent Black received his Doctor of Oriental Medicine in 1986.
